7 Must-Haves for Winter

Happy December! It's almost 2012, and I'm super excited especially for winter! More skiing and snowboarding! Here are some of my must-haves for the wintertime (December - January).

1. Maybelline’s Sky High Curves Mascara ($6, local drugstore)
Most Asians have short, stubby and undefined lashes but this mascara makes mine long, curved, and defined. The waterproof formula is honestly much better than the regular - I'm not sure why, but it is.

2. Burt’s Bees Beeswax & Banana Hand Creme ($5, www.burtsbees.com)
It always gets frosty during the winter, and the one thing that I hate most is my dry hands. This creme made my skin super soft and cured my chappedness which is why this creme is my skin savior.

3. Bobbi Brown's Espresso Ink Long Wear Gel Eye Liner ($21, Sephora)
This eyeliner is amazing! I was swimming (in my indoor heated pool, of course) and it just stayed right where I applied it (unlike some other waterproof eye liners I've used)! I also love how it's reliably dark and it definitely boosts my confidence. This is also an Allure Best of Beauty Award winner!

4. Too Faced Perfect Lips Nude Lip Liner ($18.50, Sephora)
When I first saw this product in Cosmopolitan magazine, there was a caption that said "a liner that's formulated to create the 'perfect' lip color" so I decided to give it a try. Best liner ever. And I will repeat: best liner ever! This eye liner incredibly amazing, I simply can't describe it well enough. It blends seamlessly into my lip color tone. Ah.May.Zing. :D

5. Uggs Australia Plumdale ($220, www.uggaustralia.com)
I purchased these boots last month and they're Uggs so what can you say bad about them? Inside, they're super comfy and the design on the outside is as chic as usual. Uggs I absolutely detest are the solid colored ones that are a quarter of knee's length. Uggs that reach over half your knee's length is in. Short Uggs are out! Attention: Do not buy Ugg-wannabe boots such as Emu or Bearpaw. It's not worth it, to be honest! Cute and acceptable Uggs usually have some kind of design on them, such as bottons, or lace, something like that. Solid tan, silver, or any color of the rainbow Uggs are my #1 eye sore during the wintertime.

6. Deborah Lippmann's Footloose Collection ($32 per set, www.lippmanncollection.com)
This nail polish collection is inspired by the movie, Footloose which aired not so long ago (but I think it's out of theaters by now). The colors from left to right are "Almost Paradise" (faintly yellow-green), "Footloose" (red), "Let's Hear It From The Boy" (robin's blue), and "Dancing in the Sheets" (navy blue). I've tried my friend's "Let's Hear It From The Boy" and it was my immediate favorite. "Almost Paradise" is a nice color, but it's not very commonly seen in the wintertime so if you purchase this collection, use "Dancing in the Sheets" for this season, "Almost Paradise" for spring, "Footloose" for the summer, and last but not least, "Let's Hear It From The Boy" for autumn. Perfect, right?

7. Cowl Neck Sweaters [Ann Taylor’s White Cowl Neck Sweater]
Cowl-necks are my favorite type of clothing during the winter. Instead of wearing a ill-fitting, corny turtleneck, cowl-necks are the stylish way of surviving the chilly days of rain or snow (depending on where you live). I've seen a whole lot of cowl-neck sweaters at Ann Taylor, Juicy Couture, and H&M that aren't extremely overpriced. The prices usually range from $30-$90 at the most.

So, what is one of your must-haves for the winter? Sound off in the comments!

November's Hits and Misses

Knowing the Hits and Misses for November will ultimately keep you up in makeup style and flair.

Hits

Deborah Lippmann's Brick House Nail Lacquer
Honestly, I'd say this is the prettiest shade I've ever encountered; it's very long lasting, plus it gives a nice rich and rustic shimmer - perfect for autumn.

Ben Nye Grande Lumiere Palette
This palette definitely a hit. The colors are well pigmented, and they're unlike any other shadows I've tried on. Not only their color is gorgeous, but it also shimmers in the sunlight.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Cupcake
I've chosen this as a hit because it's a long laster (but sadly it doesn't taste as great). As usual, it makes my lips shine like crazy especially under the sunlight.

Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation
I will definitely not doubt that this is a hit. I love this foundation so much because it blends thoroughly into my skin and it doesn't make my skin oily or greasy, unlike others.

Misses

Prada Candy Eau de Parfum
I've honestly expected better from Prada - I got this as my birthday present (it was on the 25th of last month) and the only thing I could smell was candy, candy, candy. The bad kind. It smelled rather chemical-y and gross.

L'Oreal Star Magnet Nail Polishes
It's funny how most people would think this is the best nail polishes (from magazine ads) but when I applied it on my nails at CVS the other day, it was far from great. I absolutely hated each shade because they were too plastic-y and corny looking.
NYC New York Color Duet Eyeliner
To be honest with you, the only thing I hated about this was that it wasn't outstanding. The color would totally blend into my skin tone and I'd have to apply a thick layer for the color to actually appear.

Wet 'n' Wild Ultimate Match Foundation - $5
Now this foundation, I absolutely detested! Do. Not. Buy. This. After applying it on my face, my face immediately turned oily and greasy, the opposite of Chanel's Pro Lumiere Foundation.

Do you own any of these products and agree, or disagree? Comment below, what is your makeup hit and miss for November?
